Alexandria, VA (January 12, 2012) — Morten Hansen, an award-winning author and management professor at the University of California, Berkeley, who gave a highly regarded presentation on collaboration at ALSSA’s 2010 Fall Conference will be the featured keynote speaker at ALSSA’s 2012 Spring Senior Executives Meeting.
Professor Hansen is a co-author with Jim Collins of the current best-seller, Great by Choice: Uncertainty, Chaos and Luck – Why Some Thrive Despite Them All recently ranked #5 on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal hardcover business best sellers lists. His presentation at the ALSSA Spring Meeting will focus on the findings and strategies outlined in the book with a special focus on biotechnology and life science examples.
Great by Choice – With a team of more than twenty researchers, Professor Hansen and Jim Collins studied companies that rose to greatness – beating their industry indexes by a minimum of ten times over fifteen years - in environments characterized by big forces and rapid shifts that leaders could not predict or control. The research team then contrasted these “10X companies” to a carefully selected set of comparison companies that failed to achieve greatness in similarly extreme environments.
