ALSSA to Host Breakfast at SLAS

Alexandria, VA (January 4, 2012) ALSSA will host an exclusive invitation-only breakfast on February 7, 2012 in San Diego, California at the SLAS2012 Conference and Show. The breakfast meeting is designed to facilitate networking among the senior executives of ALSSA members attending SLAS2012 and to introduce ALSSA to other key companies in our industry.

Dan Sipes, Director of Advanced Automation Technologies at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) will be a featured guest speaker. Dan leads the Automated Compound Profiling Group which develops and implements new technologies for drug discovery, assay development, high throughput screening, automated cell culture and protein production. The Group also assists in commercialization of new technologies.

SLAS – the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening – is the successor organization to the 2010 merger of the Association for Laboratory Automation and the Society for Biomolecular Sciences. The 2012 conference and exhibition will be the first annual show of the combined group.

For the past two years, ALSSA has hosted a similar breakfast for members and been a “gold” sponsor at the Lab Automation show as the show’s focus has expanded from automation issues to include secondary screening, cell research, instrumentation, molecular diagnostics, food and agriculture, and forensics. Last year’s show drew more than 4,000 participants and 250 exhibitors.
