Alexandria, VA (October 3, 2011) —Thirteen new members have joined ALSSA since the new fiscal year began on July 1, ALSSA President Michael Duff told the ALSSA Board of Directors at its October 2 meeting.
The new members include Biodesix, a molecular diagnostics company, Corning Life Sciences, Fluidigm and European-based Oxford Gene Technology and STRATEC Biomedical AG.
The newest members of ALSSA are:
Biodesix Inc. of Broomfield, Colorado is a fully integrated molecular diagnostic company developing products for personalized medicine that improve patient care. The Company’s unique approach is based on ProTS®, proprietary technology which exploits the power of mass spectrometry and enables the discovery of specific molecular profiles.
BioScale, Inc. of Lexington, Massachusetts manufactures a sophisticated protein measurement technology to accelerate drug discovery, and the development and production of biological and pharmaceutical products. BioScale’s technology enables customers to achieve major advancements in protein research that were not previously attainable by allowing the ultra-sensitive detection of proteins in multiple types of complex biological samples.
Corning Advanced Life Sciences of Corning, New York and a division of Corning, Incorporated, produces life science consumables and instrumentation/equipment.
DVS Sciences Inc. of Markham, Ontario, Canada, is an analytical equipment and reagents development company that produces and markets the CyTOF®, a high throughput mass cytometer for individual cell analysis based on a novel elemental mass-spectrometry detection technology, and the MAXPAR® system of reagents related to massively multi-parametric assays.
Fluidigm Corporation of South San Francisco, California creates microfluidic-based chips and instrumentation for biological research. Fluidigm’s technology enables the rapid, efficient, highly parallel, and reproducible analysis of tens-to-hundreds of genetic markers, across hundreds-or-thousands of DNA samples, in hours instead of days or weeks. The technology supports genomics-based applications such as single-cell gene expression, high sample throughput SNP genotyping and ground-breaking capabilities such as digital PCR and automated target enrichment for next-generation sequencing.
Fluxion Biosciences of South San Francisco, California, is a bioanalytical tool company providing cellular analysis tools for use in life science research and drug discovery applications. It offers BioFlux system, which addresses cellular interaction studies, such as cell adhesion, platelet adhesion, transmigration, wound healing, and biofilms. The company also provides IonFlux system, which provides high throughput automated patch clamp data for ion channel applications.
Hanson Research Corporation of Chatsworth, California is a leader in dissolution test technology for the pharmaceutical industry. Hanson offers a complete line of tablet dissolution, topical and transdermal test systems.
IntelliCyt Corporation of Albuquerque, New Mexico develops and markets innovative high throughput cell screening solutions using flow cytometry technology for drug discovery and life science research.
KPL, Inc. of Gaithersburg, Maryland manufactures and market high quality immunochemicals for life science and in vitro diagnostics. KPL was the first company to commercialize affinity purified secondary antibodies, a valuable tool for biological research and in vitro diagnostic testing. Since then KPL has introduced over 700 reagents and complete assay kits for protein visualization and nucleic acid detection that address the needs of cell biology, immunology, protein chemistry and molecular biology scientists.
Oxford Gene Technology of Yarnton, Oxfordshire, England is focused on providing innovative clinical genetics and diagnostic solutions to advance molecular medicine The key focus areas of OGT are: tailored microarray and sequencing services enabling high-quality, high-throughput genomic studies; cytogenetics products and services delivering the complete oligonucleotide array solution for cytogenetics; and delivering tailored biomarker discovery solutions to identify and validate the best biomarkers for diagnostic applications.
Pace Analytical Services – Laboratory Operations Division, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, provides analytical and environmental testing services, field sampling services, and on-site laboratory operations and management services for a variety of projects.
Sensorin of Burlingame, California is developing and commercializing a novel, proprietary and versatile sensing technology platform. The company is initially focusing on pH measurement in high-value manufacturing, where an internally referenced, continuously self-calibrating sensor without drift is advantageous. The Sensorin system uses solid state molecular electronics and is reliable, accurate and robust for deployment in process applications. The company's first product will be a pH sensing system for biologics manufacturing.
STRATEC Biomedical AG of Birkenfeld, Germany, develops and manufactures fully automated analyzer systems based on its own patented technologies for its partners in the fields of clinical diagnostics and biotechnology. notifications and approval if applicable.
