Alexandria, VA (November 16, 2009) – The Analytical and Life Science Systems Association (ALSSA) announced that Greg Herrema, Chairman of ALSSA, has appointed Frank Witney, President & CEO of Dionex Corporation to the ALSSA Board. The appointment is effective immediately.
Dr. Witney will fill the seat created by the resignation of Kevin Chance who recently resigned from Dionex and joined Thermo Fisher Scientific as President of the Scientific Instruments Division. Since Thermo Fisher Scientific already is represented on the ALSSA Board, Mr. Chance resigned from the ALSSA Board and created a vacancy.
Dr. Witney joined Dionex on April 30 of this year from Affymetrix, Inc. where he served as Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and led and integrated the Panomics, Inc, business after its acquisition by Affymetrix in December 2008. Previously, Dr. Witney served as President & CEO of Panomics, Inc. (formerly Genospectra, Inc.) from July 2002 to December 2008.
Prior to joining Panomics, Dr. Witney was President of Drug Discovery Tools at PerkinElmer Life Sciences, a position he assumed following PerkinElmer's acquisition of Packard BioScience Company. From 1983 through 2000, Dr. Witney held a series of management positions at Bio-Rad Laboratories. Dr. Witney was a post-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health and holds a doctorate in molecular and cell biology from Indiana University.
